Richard Mick - Head Coach -Cross Country
Track & Field - Distance Coach

Coach Mick has been coaching Cross Country for 8 years. As a student of NHS, Mick was an AVL champion in Basketball and Cross Country. He also currently holds the school record for the 2 mile run (track) and the 5K (cross country). After graduating in '89 he went on to play ESU Basketball, ESU Cross Country, and KSU Cross Country between '89 and '92. 

 Coach Mick still holds the 5K NHS Cross Country record time of 15:52 which he set at the Great Bend Regional's in 1987.  Coach Mick is also the distance runners coach for Newton Track.

Michelle Bergquist - Assistant Coach Cross Country

Coach Bergquist has been the Assistant Cross Country Coach since at least 2006.  Coach Bergquest (Bradbury in 1989) holds the second fastest time at NHS Cross Country of 12:16 set at the Newton Invitational in 1989.  This was for a distance of 2 miles (3.2 Kilometers).  The distance for girls (5A-1A) Cross Country was changed to 4 Kilometers in 2006.

Tad Remsberg - Head Coach -Track and Field

Coach Remsberg was named the head Railer track coach for boys and girls for the spring 2004 season and he coaches Sprints/Hurdles/Relays. He has been an assistant football coach for the past 13 years, serving as the defensive coordinator for the past 6. Coach Remsberg was a member of the 400 meter relay state champion team in track his senior year in high school, and he went on to play college football for Butler County and Emporia State University.

Cory Buchta - Assistant Coach - Track and Field

Mr. Buchta is doing his student teaching at NHS and will be coaching Pole Vault.

Greg Lehr - Assistant Coach - Track and Field

Mr. Lehr is a throwing Coach (javelin) for the Track team.

Tony Hein - Assistant Coach - Track and Field

Mr. Hein coaches long jump and triple jump.

Justin Helmer - Assistant Coach - Track and Field

Mr. Helmer is a distance running Coach for the Track team.

Randy Zohn - Assistant Coach - Track and Field

Coach Zohn competed in track, basketball, and football at Scandia High School, and then went on to compete in track (shot put, discus) at Cloud County Community College, where he was the 1973 Track Athlete of the Year. He has coached two individual state champions at NHS, Ted Sims and Janae Voelker 2006 Schedule.  Mr. Zohn is a throwing Coach for the Track tea
